The Coflore Agitated Cell Reactor (ACR) is a dynamically-mixed flow reactor comprised of ten distinct reactor cells in series, operating as ten CSTRs for plug flow performance. Interstage channels between each reactor cell reduce the uncontrolled bypassing and back-mixing associated with single tube CSTR designs. Coflore laboratory reactors patented agitation technology provides efficient active-mixing even at very low flow rates, providing versatility for handling a variety of single-phase and multi-phase reaction mixtures, including slurries.

The Coflore ACR flow laboratory reactor is ideal for establishing and developing continuous processes prior to scale up, or when only limited quantities of material are available or required. Processes developed on a Coflore ACR platform have a straight-forward path to scale up via the larger volume Coflore ATR pilot-scale plug flow reactor and Coflore RTR production scale plug flow reactor.

Compatible with a wide scope of chemical processes for residence times ranging from seconds to hours, the Coflore ACR laboratory reactor is extremely versatile. A wide-range of reactions have been performed in the ACR laboratory reactor, including: hydrogenations; Grignard reactions; transesterifications; biocatalysis; nitrations and many more. Multi-phase mixtures including slurries and gases can be processed with low risk of blocking or fouling, making the ACR ideal for heterogeneous catalysis.
